Luciana Tudela is the kind of person that you will see once and will never forget. She stands out because of her interpretation of the world in her daily live and work. Her playful side is like a magnet for curious people (like me) who want to know about the source of her inspiration.
Since she was a child, she enjoyed the process of creating the notebook’s cover with collages, rather than filling them with drawings. In our conversation, Lu realizes that what she did with the covers is very related to the backings and designs she now creates. Her notebooks are a tiny version of what her current work.
Luciana always needs a notebook; it gives her “peace of mind”. When she doesn’t have one, she feels the ideas might run away. However, with all that peace, conflict appears sometimes when she feels the need of finishing them. I relate to that a lot. I don’t like to “waste” or even “forget” paper. Now she handles the conflict better; she doesn’t need to fill them entirely and so they “last forever”, she says laughing.
Luciana has a notebook where she draws what she wants to have; it’s like a script that allows her to visualize what she wants with her life. Lu tells me about the “ritual of drawing” and the magical bond created with the drawing and a “wish.” When you translate the “wish” to an image on the notebook, you’re letting out something that was only in your mind and so, by putting it on paper makes it closer to being real. (I loved her when she said that)
Things about Luciana:
